Thank you from the 2024 Kilkivan Great Horse Ride

street parade
We would like to show our appreciation to everyone who made the 2024 Kilkivan Great Horse Ride one that will be remembered.
We were stretched to the point where our amazing committee called in as many husbands, sons, daughters, parents, family and friends that we could to support us. These people along with the small amount of ‘worth their weight in gold’ volunteers were AMAZING – the event simply would not have run without the effort put in by a handful of people. The happy smiling faces made it all worthwhile.
Special mention to the two land holders that allowed us access to their beautiful properties and prepared the trails in their own time and at their own cost.
Riders appreciated the catering provided by Gunalda District Kindergarten, support vehicles by Kilkivan Veteran’s And Community Men’s Shed Association Inc. and the SES.
Thank you to Holly for donating cattle for the Working Cattle Dog demonstrations and the hours spent on site.
Thank you to the vendors who braved the conditions and offered words of support and, at times, fed us when they recognised that volunteers were so deep in what they were doing that they forgot to eat!
Thank you to Sonia McMahon from Crow FM 90.7 for hosting the Kicking Up Dust Youth Talent comp, and to the youngsters who came out, got on the stage and gave some mighty fine performances – congratulations to the winner, Olivia Sindel whose cover of Joelene was outstanding.
The sound and lighting prepared by Craig from Orbiting Star Productions provided the perfect space for the KUD contestants as well as the main act Tennessee Lights  who rocked on Saturday night and the videos of people dancing in the rain proved it!
Events like these don’t happen without the support of sponsors, please support them and even consider a thank you posted on their page to boost their business.
The biggest thanks go to you that simply turned up! Those who who travelled a short distance or a long distance, those that braved the dicey forecasted weather, those who got wet and muddy and still smiled, those whose camp were inundated with water and mud, those who helped others, those who offered kind words of support and encouragement to committee members and volunteers and those that understood that this event is only possible due to hard work, countless hours and commitment from those of us that give up our own time with our families and horses to make this happen. You are awesome!
